Well its been a chilly week here in the Northwest! Record breaking temperatures for this time of year! Last week when I left for work it was 17 degrees outside...but with the wind and humidity and all that weather.com said it felt like a whopping 9 degrees! Oy vay! Luckily I know a guy who's got REI connections, hee hee. All our cold weather gear came in handy that week!
Working out with Roy proves to be a bit more difficult--boy did my cheeks get cold just jogging a few minutes outside! Thus, I developed my indoor workout. There's 6 flights of stairs on one side of the building, a garage, and 3 flights of stairs on the other side of the building. I'd run the stairs, run out and around the building uphill, run up the 3 flights of stairs, walk quickly and quietly across the building and back down the 6 flights. A few repetitions of that plus skipping and sprinting across the garage gets my Roy Boy and I tuckered out!
here's a couple more pics from one of our frosty mornings...
The other exciting event on December 8th was the one year anniversary of us bringing our Roy Boy home! What else could I do but throw him a little party??? Here's a little rendition.
Oh mom, what are you planning on doing with that?
Seriously?
I'm so embarrassed...
Really now, this is going a bit too far...
Fine, Mom, I'll pose for your stupid pictures...
OK, go! I said...and he dug in....

NOOOO!!!!
That dog picked up the ENTIRE THING and DROPPED it on the floor!
Its my fault, really, I should have seen it coming!
Well at least he enjoyed it thoroughly...and that's what birthdays are all about, right?
He even licked the carpet clean for me before I thoroughly scrubbed it
Such is life with a Roy Boy. And we may have had a revelation as to his breeding! Ya see, while he looks mostly like a labrador there are a few things that have always made us think there is a bit of something else in him. He's got a much larger tail than your average lab, is taller, leaner, and his coat has a bit of a wave to it. Even his demeanor is a bit different than the labs we know. He's intuitive, a bit more protective, and almost shepherd-like in the way he has to know where everyone in the house is. If Matt's in the shower and I'm in the living room he lays in the middle. A few days ago when I was taking him out for a walk we ran into a repairman. "Is that a Chessie?" he asked.
"Huh?" I said intelligently.
"A Chesapeake Bay Retriever?"
"Oh, um, er, maybe?" I said, once again showing my stunning wit.
After our walk I looked them up.
Here's a Chesapeake Bay Retriever
And here's a Chocolate Lab
And here's the boy
What do you think???
That's all for now! Stay warm and cozy my family and friends!
